The Comeback Coach
(Preview)
I have had the pleasure of knowing Jesse Braverman for many years as a teammate on the Whiz Kids. He is always ready to do whatever the team needs, be it as a player, BP pitcher, fungo hitter, etc. Don't let the "aw, shucks" persona fool you. He is as tough a competitor as anyone. But he is more than that. He i...

50+ Albany Capitals, FL Day 2
(Preview)
A much better effort today, but we fell 5-3 to a talented Sacramento Royals team. Our lefty Jimmies (Tesoriero and Preller) kept us in the game from the mound. We were down 5 in the 7th when we broke through for our first runs of the tourney, making it a 5-3 contest. But thats where it stayed. Several guys h...

50+ Albany Capitals day 2, Fl

Well today we played a team that was undefeated in round robin play last year the Sacramento Royals. Jimmy Tesoriero was on the mound and was fantastic. He pitched 7 innings and with some unfortunate miscues he still held this Sacramento team to 5 runs. Jimmy Preller did the closing job and held them to...

50+ Albany Capitals, FL Day 1

Sunday was a somewhat dreary overcast day in Clearwater, but it was 80 degrees or so. So, yeah, not so bad. The Capitals started their tourney against a sponsored squad from Cleveland that had moved up to the 50s after playing several years in the 45+ American Division. They were pretty good. The Capit...

Day 2 was a difficult one to grasp. We took a lead early 2-0 against team CT for 5 when a couple misques by the umps put us in a bad position. The biggest when our pitcher spiked a curve into the front foot of a lefty batter which Caromed off the foot of the Umpire, men on 2nd and 3rd , the ball rolled down the smal...
