First, the Giants finished in first place and then defeated the Twins, Marlins and Whiz Kids in the playoffs to win their third straight title. In the past...

A couple of players from the Berkshire Baseball League in MA asked about getting a game together on Labor Day weekend. I was thinking that perhaps we may be able to get a three game set? Any interest? If I can get a 15 player roster together by next weekend (Aug 28th) I would do the leg work to get a field over...

The Giants got great pitching and defense on Sunday, and were able to eek out just enough offense to beat the division leading Cubs 3-2. Joey Burns started and gave up just 2 first inning runs (one earned), as he scattered just 4 hits over his 5 innings of work, for the win. Jim Hicks came on in the 6th, and p...

There's that great quote from Rogers Hornsby: "People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." I have been hired as the JV baseball coach at LaSalle Institute in Troy. There is a small stipend being offered for an assistant coach. Good news is that this could be a great stepping stone for career-minded coaches and you'd be starting at a talented and competitive level of the Colonial Council. Bad...

I would like to apologize to Matt Kelly and to his entire Damn Yankees' teammates for my idiotic decision attempting to throw out Matt at 1st base from center field. Knowing Matt had a leg injury which prevented him from running at full speed I made the unethical/poor baseball decision to make the thro...
