Former member could use some help
(Preview)
Al Marin's wife Diane is battling leukemia. She recently had a round of chemo that took a toll on her and once she builds her strength back up she will undergo another round then on to Boston for further treatment. Al played in the CDMSBL for the 28 A's and later the 45 Reds mostly at ss for those that might n...

Cubs bats awake at the right time!
(Preview)
The Cubs entered their first playoff game losing 6 of their last 7 games, scoring no more than 4 runs in any of those losses. To be fair, we never fielded a full team in any of those games. Last night vs the Cardinals, at New Scotland, it was all hands on deck. Even Jon Martin, who drove 5-1/2 hours from his va...

QUICK POLL: Answer if you've got a minute
(Preview)
Question: What was the highest level of organized baseball you played? Little League, High School, Twilight League, College (D1, D3, please specify), Drafted, Professional? If you want to include your current team/league level, other info, that might be interesting, too. In fairness: Jimmy Pr...

Here is a list of teams, and the names of the players that have played at least one game, without playing enough games to qualify: Cardinals - Clay Bouton John Radzik Bruce Whitman Whiz Kids - Blaise Agnew Dodgers - Greg Gougler Damn Yankees - Greg Woolston Cubs - Robert Coffey I don't think that there ar...

Capital Division
(Preview)
Moving forward with 60+ CDMSBL baseball: 1. Thanks to Don Ball for getting us going. Saturday Capital Division baseball has been very successful, primarily due to Dons work. Rightfully, Don would like to go fishing instead of organize fields, players, umpires, and teams. Way to go, Don! 2. Next S...

Thanks to Jimmy K for last night .... and John Kalinski
(Preview)
I totally forgot to mention the Yankees / Giant game was ready to start but missing one somewhat critical element.... umpires or even a single ump. Apparently there was a mixup and despite recent shoulder surgery Jimmy K offered to ump the game. Outside of doubling as a base coach he did a great job and a...

Twins Bow
(Preview)
The Twins ended their 2019 season with an 11-2 loss to the Dodgers last night at Schenectady Babe Ruth Field. For whatever reason, the Dodgers had the Twins number this year. Pitcher Mark Denicola did a good job keeping the Twins from scoring many runs, although he did give up 9 hits. Dodgers outfielde...

Cubs gift wrap the number one seed for the Whiz Kids.
(Preview)
On a night where the Whiz Kids were playing for the number one seed, the Cubs looked happy to help them along the way. The Cubs (away team for the third time in 3 games vs the Whiz) got a run, in the top of the 1st inning on a RBI single by Ron Lochner. However, they committed 4 errors, and walked the first two ba...

Damn Yankees over Giants to clinch 2nd in the 55's
(Preview)
The Yankees beat the Giants (9-4 or so) last night to clinch 2nd in the 55s. Scary moment when Gregg Woolston took a Steve Lounello fastball in the mouth/face but it seemed like he was lucky and didn't sustain too much damage. We iced it immediately and there was no blood and he still had all of his teeth in...

Twins-Americans in a Tight One
(Preview)
The Americans took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with 2 hits and that would be the only hits and runs the Twins pitching staff would allow the rest of the game . It took the Twins until the bottom of the 6th to finally score their 3 runs. Mike Ruslander and Dave Edelman scored pn a 1 out bases loaded Jim Edel...

found bat & glove
(Preview)
Gents: I was the last to leave our dugout Sunday at Watervliet High, and on the way out, I found a dark blonde-colored bat - something called Talbot & Turmings/ Chesapeake I think - with black tape. Also found a black & red Franklin batting glove. I sent a note to the Grays, and through Don Ball, t...

Whiz Kids/Giants Struck By Lightning: All Dead
(Preview)
Curious game last night. Whiz Kids jumped out to 4-0 lead, Giants clawed back to take 6-4 lead, then lightning struck at the top of the 4th and the s*** was shot. Some of us hung around late and drank fancy beer from Vermont. Thanks, Pete! At this point, I have no info on plans to reschedule game. My underst...

What is the status of the game between the Dodgers and Cardinals?
(Preview)
I would imagine that the game was not completed last night, with all of the rain around the area, but did some of it get played?

Can we get fields assigned to the Thursday and Friday "Top 4" games this week?
(Preview)
We are still showing no field assignments for the Thursday (Whiz vs Cubs game), and the Friday (Giants vs Whiz) games. Could we get those assigned, so I can tell my guys where to go for Thursday's games. Would love to know where Monday's (08/05/19) game 1, of the upper tier playoffs, will be played as wel...
