Although I could not make the last 28+ meeting I did have someone attend from my team. I heard about a few things that were going on and I just wanted to state my opinion.
First, I don't know this definitely, but I heard that the season is starting in about 3 weeks. We have tried to start the season in April twice before and the first two weeks were rained out so right away we are making up games. We won't have a problem with fields this year and we have fields for a game during the week. I think it's a huge mistake starting that early. Again, just my opinion.
Second, the whole age thing moving each year down to 25, 35 & 45. I know that the CDMSBL National has those age limits, but we don't have to. Our league is not hurting for players, teams, etc. It is very competitive now and we should't fix things that are not broken.
On that note, if we are trying to make this league better that is one thing. We shouldn't totally revamp what is not broken. We can adjust and tweak things, but there is no reason to just change things without thinking things through.
This is just my opinion and is in no way criticizing those who make this league run efficiently.
I have to agree with Joe on both points. It is hard to play games in April because of our beautiful weather in upstate NY. I also think that the 28 and over age group is doing just fine. If the competition was lacking I would say change the age group, but the quality of baseball is good.
