The Bluejays won their opener against the Mets, 8-0. Mike Maiello started on the hill for the Jays and pitched 4 very strong innings of 2-hit, shutout ball - gave his usual 150%. Ralph Caputo was the closer for the Jays - pitching 2 solid innings - not allowing any runs. The Jays played good, consistent defense to support the pitching efforts. The score does not indicate the capabilities of the Mets, new to the 38+ division. The Mets have 3 or 4 obvious power hitters around the 3,4,5 spots - surrounded by contact hitters and speed at the top and bottom of the line up. They do have good pitching, as well. Watch out for the Mets.
