38+ - A's 14 - Blue Jays 4 - 5/30/07 UAlbany

On a great and definitely bright night at UAlbany, the A's defeated the Blue Jays behind the pitching of 38+ rookies Brian Kent and Jeff Kruzinski. I was a little upset when the Blue Jays broke up the no-hitter with two outs in the second on a solid single by Ralph Caputo. Damn it Ralph - What were you thinking! Have you no respect for the game? I would expect nothing less than a home run to kill the no-no at that point in the game! Sheesh!

The A's started out quickly scoring 3 runs in the first and 6 more in the second to break the game open. There were many offensive stars for the A's but Don Wixon collected three singles, an HBP and was only seen falling down on the infield once (Not that we count. Yeah, okay - we do. So far, we have 5 times and one is a classic bowling pin topple. Oh, and should we count the stop, drop and roll on a play at the plate? Sure, why not - make it 6!!). Four other players collected 2 hits each. Another league rookie, Laddie Mawery had 4 RBI's (he also had to pinch run the bases way too many times. He actually had to do it twice in one inning. He said he will make sure to get 5 hits next time so he is not the last batted out again!).

The B Jays (Maybe I shouldn't try to shorten their name - I mean no disrespect, guys) collected five hits, 2 by Malone.

I do know they will be looking for revenge when we meet them again.

Oops - I goofed. The Blue Jays had 6 hits, including a double by Weber!
