Silver Marlins 11 Peppers 3

Wednesday night at SUNY marked the return of Ted Poleto to the Silvers line-up (in town for a week). Ted hit the ball hard twice, knocking in three for the Silvers, as his buddy Phil Gadomski got his second win in less than a week. If you are going to be playing SS, 3B, or LF at SUNY in a 6:00 game, please bring sunglasses and make sure that your health insurance and life insurance are up to date.

right you are about the insurance, mike. you can add pitcher to that list, too. everytime
we threw - and i suspect, phil too - the sun hit us square in the eyes. it was like
flashbulbs popping. very disconcerting. the mound was no friend either: like the infield,
it had not been dragged, and landing on it was like skidding across concrete. of the three
pitchers last night, phil handled those conditions the best. (wonder what his secret is?)

i wonder too if the university is supposed to drag that field? (kevin, john do you know?) the bases, especially third, had huge chunks of dirt around them, as if an earthquake had hit. i'm overstating the case, not by much. (i saw that, you and some other marlins did some work around the bases before the game, which was great and much appreciated, but the task was simply too large after all the rains. heavy equipment was needed to smooth out the huge chunks of hard dirt).

it's worrisome that we play 3 of our next 4 games there. maybe play in knight's armor?

Couple of things:

1) Mike Girard, you can't get any higher than Guru status. You opine more than Limbaugh!!
(Just getting some trash going in case you're really staying with the fish next year instead of moving up with the Cubbies)!!

2) I've never liked SUNY for evening games, terrible sun field, way too big for wood bats, and it costs too much. Before anybody cries about field availabilty, Dennis Maille worked hard to secure Bob Moore stadium, with the opportunity to use lights and play doubleheaders at half the cost. It so far has fallen on deaf ears.

Now that is a true friend. Bob Moore instead of SUNY. I think we are all behind that movement!!!

Better get a league-sponsored cardiologist if we go with that plan. Every time we play at Bob Moore my cholesterol goes up 14 points.
