Behind the brilliant pitching of Mark Johnson, ( 5 K's, 0 ER, 6 Hits), the Black Sox defeated a game, understaffed Whiz Kids team today at the Knick. Dennis Pierce pitched a fine game for the Whiz going 5 innings and striking out 7, along with 2 hits and scoring the lone run for the Whiz. Dennis has one of the best curves in the 47 division, and perhaps the 38 division, although he doesn't play 38's.
Jeff Teats with 3 hits and Yogi Milos 1 hit ( thank you for sticking around and filling in for the Whiz Yogi) completed the hitting for the Whiz. Joe Stalvey leading off the 3rd and batting with one out in the 4th sparked the Black Sox offense scoring 2 runs and smashing a bullet down the 3rd baseline.Musella with 2 hits, Ramos with a double and 2 runs scored, Myers with a double and 3 runs scored and Deane Fish with 2 hits against his former team provided a strong offense. Wayne Newcomb filled in nicely for the short-handed Sox and scored 3 runs, 1 of which came from stealing home. Again kudos to Mark Johnson and his complete game win.
