Utilizing three pitchers, Art Gianakos, Brian Kent and Bucky Kruzinski, the A's came back from an early deficit to take the Friday night game form the Pirates.
The P's had scored three in the bottom of the 1st inning, highlighted by Agneta's single and Smaka's triple.
The A's got a run in their half of their first four innings to sneak back into the game and eventually take the lead. In the bottom of the 1st with Kruzinski on third via a single and 2 stolen bases, a sacrifice fly off the bat of Haff scored the run. In the 2nd, the A's got the another run highlighted by a single and stolen base from Geo Schillinger. Their run in the 3rd came on a two out rally on a single and stolen base by Haff and a run scoring single fron Class. The go-ahead run in the 4th was huslted in by David Schillinger on a dribbler in front of the plate by Don Wixon ("Dribbler" and Don Wixon seem to go together there, don't you think?) after he had reached third on a single, a stolen base and a coerced balk.
The final run was tallied in the seventh with Kevin Moon's one out, bases loaded RBI single getting Geo Schillinger across the plate.
The Pirates, limited to 5 hits, were led by Corcoran's two singles and Smaka's afore-mentioned triple.
A very nicely played game. And Jimmy P - thanks again for the kind words.
