Last night in Kingston the Hummingbirds and Reds squared off for what would turn out to be a terrific game. It was Latore vs Burns. Both teams had men in scoring position a few different times but were held scoreless until the 6th when Mike Ferraro and Billy Earl (hope the names are correct) hit back to back doubles. The Birds go up 1-0. The Reds load the bases in the bottom of the 6th and again were stopped with a timely strike out to end the inning. Joe Burns held off yet another threat in the top of the 7th with a man on third and 1 out and stuck out the next two. Now we go to the bottom of the 7th, the Reds managed to tie the score with a couple of well placed balls and 2 stolen bases. Runners on the corners with 1 out the Reds get another stolen base and Dennis Reuter at the plate. Dennis layed down a beautiful bunt down the first base side to score the winning run. Well played by both teams. I would also like to say that Jim Dalton and his partner (sorry I did not get his name) did a stellar job officiating the game. Nice job guys.
