Met's Vs Pirates 08.07.07

A beautiful hazy summer day for baseball last night @ Indian Meadows and the Met's and Pirates locked up in a gem of a pitchers duel between Mike Kane and our Lex Herrlett and unfortunately we took the short end of the stick 1-0. Lex only gave up 2 hits and Mike gave up only 3 him self. Alot of great defense was played by both teams led by Tony Skrabalak throwing out a run at the plate from center in the 5 ining. with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th and a runner on second, I believe his name was Carlos singled to left center and the only run scored just beating another great throw from Tony.

Congrats to all involved it was a great game.

Just want to reiterate Jim B.'s comments on a very well played game by both sides with very good defense. Tony's throw was excellent for the Mets. The Pirates had great play in the outfield taking away some hits that would have allowed the Mets to mount a scoring threat. Infield play for the Pirates was also good with an excellent play by Fred Corcoran at first to knock down a very tough hard hit grounder and flip to Kane for the out. Finally, Lex Herrlett and Mike Kane pitched extremely well in this duel holding the opposing team to very few hits. By our count however, Lex scattered 5 hits, 4 clean in the outfield and only one on a tough play by the 2nd baseman. All in all great game, best to all in the playoffs.
