Giants come away with a 10-1 win, but that score is not at all indicative of how the Peppers played. John Weber pitched a masterful game, keeping the Giants off stride with an assortment of pitches and hitting his spots. Peppers trailed just 3-1 entering the 6th, but the Giants took advantage of a costly miscue by the Peppers and broke the game open with a 5-spot.
A single, double, walk, single plated a run and left the bases loaded with no outs. With the infield in, Weber induced a grounder that just went under the glove of a Peppers' infielder and two runs scored. A single and double plated two more runs to cap the inning.
The Giants then added two more in the top of the 7th to seal it.
Next up for the Giants is the winner of the Marlins-A's series.
Ed Obertubbessing has some quality talent to build on and we all wish him much success next season. That team is definitely braced to take the next step in a very tough 14-team division.
Congrats to Jim and the Giants. Jim has put together a great hitting lineup and has the pitching to match. His team is definitely championship caliber - I wish them luck.
