I would like to one of the first to personally thank all the people, behind and in front of the scenes, who were responsible for the putting last nights Inugural CDMSBL Awards Banquet together. It was a blast.
Congratulations to all the award winners especially Jim Ansel, Tom Maney, Ted Martin, and Jim McQuade who were inducted into the Hall Of Fame. Special congratulations also to Tom Maney who received the Jim Jordan Award for Sportmanship. The evening was filled with stories, humor, comradery, fellowship that was all surrounded by what we love to do that touches our heart - baseball. Hats off also to Dennis Scimeca who did a top notch job as Master of Ceremonies what a sense of humor you had to be there.
When I joined this league back in 2004, I would have never believed I would be in a mix of gentlemen who are caring, sentimental, trustworthy and downright friendly. When leaving for the evening, even my wife Peggy said, you could just feel the warmth in that room, you guys sure love the game of baseball. Sometime when you have a few moments to reflect on your life and everything you do, think about baseball, this league and what it has meant to you. That is what everyone felt during last nights festivities. If you were unable to be at this banquet last night, you better plan on attending next year.
I just want to thank EVERYONE in this league who has made it what it is today. This is a league that truly reflects the statement we do it for the love of the game. Signed Bob Lounsbury General Manager of Blue Thunder 46+ Division
I would like to add my thanks to all involved with Saturday night's banquet, especially Dan Maychack and his wife, who quarterbacked making the arrangements. We had the banquet at a first class facility, with a great meal, and well planned and entertaining ceremonies, -- all shared with great friends!!!. I can't think of one thing that could have been better! This kind of awards banquet has been a long time coming, and the people that are responsible for pulling it off deserve a great deal of gratitude. Tom Maney, Jim Ansel, Jim McQuade, and Jon Martin (for his brother Ted) did a great job with their speeches, as did their presenters. Dennis Scimeca looked like he had been master of ceremony for these kinds of events all his life. Great job Dennis! I look forward to next year's banquet already. Thanks again to Kevin Jackson, John Reel, and all the league officers for all that you do so that big kids like myself have this great league, so we don't ever have to grow up!!!
MANY THANKS TO ALL THOSE INVOLVED IN THE PREPARATION OF THE BANQUET. IT TRULY WAS A GREAT NIGHT WITH GREAT PEOPLE. I ESPECIALLY WANT TO CONGRADULATE TOM MANEY, WHO LIKE MANY OF YOU KNOW, IS TRULY A GREAT GUY AND UNBELIEVABLE BASEBALL PLAYER. I WAS SO HAPPY TO BE PART OF HIS NIGHT AND IN CELEBRATING HIM BEING INDUCTED TO THE HALL OF FAME. I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU:) FROM YOUR # 1 FAN!
I would like to offer my thanks to all who organized what was an amazing banquet/party. Mt girlfriend and I had a great time attending and sharing in the truly warm sentiment in the room. Great speeches by all....very heartfelt and quite moving at times. After watching the Hall of Fame entrants speak...I am humbled and can only hope to one day follow in thier great footsteps. I liked the March idea cause now I am getting even more amped to play the game while remembering the stars of last year. Great job by all and we look forward to next years already.
I missed the event, but I'm glad to read the rave reviews.
However, this has to be said: It's great that we have a CDMSBL Hall of Fame, filled with men who deserve that honor. But it is to our continuing shame that we, as a league, fail to even list the HOF members on our website, and that our League Awards page remains blank.
This league has a great and proud history. It is about time we start honoring it. Update the league awards, fill in the blanks from past seasons. List the members of the HOF, and the champion teams from each year. I know there are volunteers who have offered to do the work. There's no reason why this can't be done.
Wanted to add my two cents on the banquet. What I thought was going to be a lot of self-congratulation turned out to be a night for the books. With a classy foursome being inducted into the hall and Sigler there with his MSBL sweater, the night was one I'm glad I was a part of. Hats off to Dennis for his tight MC ing, and what can you say about the main man of the evening, Tom Maney that hasn't been said. How bout that tremendous speech by Jim Ansel, I had to choke back some tears myself. The night was about those guys-Jim, and Tom, Teddy Martin, and Jimmy McQ. they all were well deserved. The acceptance speech by Johnny Martin was hysterical, relaying a message from his brother with a few creative additions. I think Johnny could start a new career, take it on the road, you never know. There was a George Raferty sighting. I don't think you see those unless the moon and sun and earth are all aligned.. It was a great sight to see. Great job, KJ, John, et al. To all who make it easy for us to put on the spikes, thank you.
