Legality of "bamboo" Bats

Hi, My name is Paul McGrath and I am starting my first full season in the over 47 league. I am wondering if the over 47 league is going to consider the "Bamboo Bat" legal. You may have seen the "Bamboo bat." It is made of bamboo wood and some form of lamination process so that the bamboo wood, which is lighter than ash or maple, is strong and solid. These bats are being marketed by Dick's Sporting Goods as wood bats and are being sold in the wood bat section of the bat display, but are these bats going to be considered legal for the over 47 league? You can reply to pkmcg@msn.com.
Upon doing some more research, I came upon a web site marketing the bat saying that they are legal in "most wood bat leagues." Perhps the board needs to conference to discuss the legality of these bats because i am sure that the umpires we be seeing them this season? They seem to be a bit lighter feeling than your typical wood bat.

Hi Paul
In short, bamboo has yet to be approved for CDMSBL.
Discussions have resumed on this.
Stay tuned.

I have NEVER seen an umpire check a bat in our division - so this is very interesting...

hmm.gifThis issue is unclear. Are we talking about the brand "bamboo" bats or all bamboo bats in general.

If it's in general, I think that's rediculus. These bats are BESR certified, they are widely used in collegiatte play, and in the minor leagues, as well as countless adult leagues!!!!!!

What exactly is the problem ( issue )furious.gif
