The Hornets took advantage of some strong pitching to sweep a double header from the Whiz Kids.
Bob Bolt picked up the win in the first game and Jack Perry provided all the run support the Hornets would need with a two run HR in the first inning. Perry also had a pair of singles to lead a 9 hit attack.
In game two Jim Konstantakis threw a masterful 1 hit shutout changing speeds and keeping the Kids off balance all game. Jim Porter threw well for the Whiz Kids but 4 unearned runs in the fourth inning led to their demise. Jack Perry added two more hit in the nightcap going 5 for 6 on the day with 3 rbi and a stolen base.
The Hornets have now won five in a row and are 5-3 at the halfway point in the season.
We all knew it was just a matter of time before the Hornets would " right the ship" after an 0-3 start. They are solid up and down the lineup, have good pitching, and are great guys on top of that. Good luck the rest of the season. Jim Porter Manager WhizKids
