37+ - A's 10 - Red 0 (7/2 Bethlehem)

As Told by David Schillinger...

A beautiful night for baseball on Wednesday saw the A's defeat a shorthanded Reds squad 10-0 at Elm Ave. Park. Brian Kent and Jeff Kruzinski combined on a 3-hit shutout. Kruzinski also led the A's with 2 hits. Joining in the hit column for the A's were A. Marin, G. Schillinger, J. Haff, D. Schillinger, K. Golden, B. Kent, W. Ferguson and believe it or not W. Newcomb. Good luck to the Reds the rest of the way.

A quick note. The Elm Avenue Park diamond was in the best shape we have ever seen it in. The infield was soft, but not dusty. I would say that this infield is one of the best we have played on this year. Firm enough for ground balls, but it did not tear your legs up if you slid. This park should be shown as a lesson on how to build a ballfield. It still has a little ways to go (new grass still growing in repaired areas behind home plate and out in left field - and maybe a fence?) A big thank you to everyone involved with this park! - Ray
