On a great night for baseball the Shaskys notched their second win of the season in a game that was well played by both teams in the friendly confines of West Albany Park. The Shaskys went ahead 6-2 in the top of the 2nd by plating 5 runs, the highlight being Tim Phelps going yard in deep center and losing a baseball under a parked freight train, a two-run shot.
The Braves started nibbling away and closed it to 7-6 at the end of the 6th inning. A nail-biting end to the game similar to the two team's first meeting was avoided when the Shaskys plated 4 in the top of the seventh with RBI's by Callahan(triple), Marrufo, Phillips, and Cooney.
Key outfield catches in the 5th by Camoin, the 6th by Callahan, and the 7th by EJ Seney gave the Shaskys the key outs they needed going down the stretch to keep the Braves at bay. Rich Cooney went 4 and Bob Weitz 3 on the hill to secure the victory.
As usual these two well-matched teams scrapped it out and played a very competitive game. A couple of balls fall a few different ways and this was anybody's game.
Thanks to the Braves for a well fought contest and a great night of baseball in a great park.
