Well hello again sports fans and welcome to CDMSBL Sports Center. Once again Im Bob Lounsbury, General Manager of Blue Thunder with a recap of the game held this past Sunday between the 5-4 Black Sox and 2-5 Blue Thunder. On a muggy, hot afternoon, the Sox and the Thunder came out and played one heck of a game. What a pitchers battle with both of them not giving in to the other team very few walks, very few strikeouts, run for run, hit for hit, out for out, it could not have been more of a closer game. With hits coming at the right time for the Black Sox from Mr. Myers and Mr. Fish and Mr. Stanley, they took a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh. But then Blue Thunder came up with three hits, a run was in, the bases were loaded, two out - does it get any better than that. Unfortunately, a hard hit groundout ended the game and the Sox came away with a 5-4 victory. Phew!!!!! Thank you, Black Sox, who played a terrific no holds barred game always a class act. Hats off to Donny Wixon who has a fine team of players - they cannot ever be counted out. It seems that this season, no one team can be counted out, truly a highly competitive division. See you Black Sox on 8/17/08 for the season finale. Wish it was more often. I hope we can win one against YOU by one run.
Burriesci and McDonald pitched complete games for their respective squads. Tim Brown led off the bottom of the first with a towering double and scored on a base rap by Matheson to tie the score at 1. Neither team put up a crooked number in any inning, a testament to the pitching and fielding of both teams. Brown and Gabarino each had 2 knocks, with LaFlamme, Kelly and Matheson contributing 1 hit and 1 rbi each. For the Sox Foreman had 3 hits and 2 rbi, and Koster had a great defensive game at second corraling everything that came his way. With 2 down in the top of the seventh Gary Fish ripped a triple to right scoring what turned out to be the winning run by Meyers. Another tight and exciting game pllayed by both teams. Bob,we'll see you and your Thunder in August.
