Friday night at New Scotland the Kingston Hummnbirds downed the Silver Marlins 3-2 behind the bat and glove of Ron Coons. Ron scored the Hummers second run and drove in the third with a long home run to left center. In the bottom of the seventh, with Skip Treece on second and one out, Ron Lochner nailed a hard grounder deep in the hole between third and short. This one looked like it was headed to left for an RBI single when Coons ranged deep to his right and took a stab and came up with the ball. His momentum carried him into shallow left field, but he righted him self and got Skip Treece in a rundown between third and second. This became the play of the game when Dave Mitchell stepped up and drilled a two-run homer over the left field fence as the next batter. If Coons doesn't make that play, the game is tied 3-3. Oh well. He did make the play and the Hummers went home happy.
