The A's beat the Bluejays by a score of 14-0 Friday night at the Knick. The A's hit the hell out of the ball. Their starting pitcher went the distance and pitched an excellent game. Ray, would you mind posting the A's highlights. I don't have the A's stats with me. I know Wayne Newcomb had 4 hits and there were several other A's hitting performances that should be mentioned.
Okay - Whine Newcomb had 4 hits. I'm sure the reason you know about that is he made sure he went to every player, spectator, neighbor, vagabond, gypsy, domesticated and wild animal within 2 miles of the park to let them know about his feat.
Jeff "Bucky" Kruzinski - as serious a contender as anyone for the pitching award - continued his prowess on the mound. He allowed only 5 hits and two walks for his 7th win without a defeat. His ERA is now well below 1.00.
Alex Marin, Scott Travis and Jim Hicks each had 2 hits in the 15 hit attack. Whine's hits were inconsequential, but made him feel good.
The Jays played hard, as always, but were foiled by 2 DP's - one with the bases loaded.
Thanks for the recap, Ray. It took us 6 guys to get Wank to come down from the top of the dugout, where he was screaming into a bullhorn about those hits. We got him down just before thre cops got there. Just kidding, Wank - nice hitting!!!
Christ, I'm close to fiftten miles away and I heard about Wayne's hits. He was crooning like his favorite singer Wayne Newton, whom, I hear, he has photo's of adorning his bedroom walls and ceiling.
