Was at the park again today with Mike Kravitz and Renss. County Legislator Mike Stammel. The park needs loads of work, but only cleanup can be done right now. We can't walk the field yet, especially with today's light rain adding to the mess.
The local crew will be working cleanup detail all day Saturday. If anyone can get there, it would be much appreciated. No need for rakes, but push brooms and gloves may be essentials.
If all the cleanup can be done Saturday, then there will be no work detail Sunday. Check this site before leaving Sunday to see if we are needed.
After that, we have to wait for the field to dry out and find 44 sprinkler heads buried in the sand that washed up onto the grass. We go from there. While the estimate comes in at $145,000, it appears that will be conservative. If everyone in all of our CDMSBL division could write a check for 5 bucks, that would give us an estimated 2 grand. That will be helpful more than you know.
Checks payable to Rensselaer Little League. Mail to me at 512 East St., Rensselaer 12144. I'll give them to RLL President Tom Burgess as our CDMSBL donation. Tom will then deposit the checks into the RLL account at Key Bank. I'll try to get a photo op for the media when we present him your checks.
Also, if you are associated with any LL, please ask if you will consider letting the RLL kids play in your fall ball program.
