On a beautiful night for baseball, the Cubs edged the Hummingbirds 3-2 Wed night at the Bob. The joint was hopping, as there was live music at the pavillion, playing all the hits of the 70's
Tom Shepardson was the story on the hill for the Cubs, striking out 9, allowing only three hits. There was only 1 outfield putout.
Birds scored a run in the 1st on a double steal. Cubs answered right back on an rbi double by Joey Fitz. Cubs plated 2 more in the 4th on a wild pitch, and a sac fly by Fitzy.
Birds threatened in the 7th, with 2nd and 3rd and only 1 out. Andy Hoyle came up with back to back good plays at third to end the threat, and propel the Cubs to game 3, Friday night, again at Bob Moore.
