It has been pointed out to me that I need to apologize for two reasons: 1) The characteriztions of Mr. Fitzgerald that I added to my post were childish and offensive. For this I offer no excuse. It was wrong and I am embarrassed by the childish nature of it and am sorry for it. 2) This is not the forum for such complaints about umpires. I should have sent a private message to my commissioner or other league official as a formal protest (which I intend to do). I was just vey frustrated by the events of the previos night, and the posting of the recap refueled that anger. Being an adult, I should have been able to type in the recap, switch websites to Outlook, and send off a message to Kevin Jackson regarding my request to bar Mr. Fitzgerald from all future CDMSBL games and let the board handle it, like they do all protests. Again ... I apologize for my lack of a filter. I promise that I will edit all my future posts before hitting the "Submit Post" button.
Hey Mike I dont think as a grown man you need to apologize to anyone, we all get frustrated with the umpires, trust me, almost all of them do a good job , I know in the playoffs we had an umpire who i dont know his name made 2 big calls against us vs the Giants, one was a check swing in the last inning of a game for the third strike, which the batter didnt break his wrsits or the bat cross the plate, and if you ask the other team i am sure they would agree, and a call where the first baseman was juggling the ball when the batter crossed the base and didnt have possesssion and he called the batter out for the end of the game without asking for any help from the home plate umpire to see if he had a better view, , and the other game we had an umpire we had never seen during the regular season, so i can feel your frustration, but the post you had is something that each and everyone of us would want to write, and probably has had happen to all of us as well, did those 2 calls cost us the game? not really we had many a chance to bring home the victory in game 1 we stranded too many people on base, but the point is sometimes in the heat of the game players very competitive, but in the playoffs a little more string should be given for a player to hang himself! i am sure every player in the league would have a gripe against something on an umpires call and you had the base-BALLS to post it, we see people bickering back and forth at each other on here we see or dont see a schedule for the regualr season on here, for whatever reason who knows, we are all men and not that you were going off cursing ,or saying anything racial, if anything it was a good chance to say to ourselves gee it does happen to other people well good luck to the remaining teams in the play-offs this is a great and fun league to play in will see you all next year ( or maybe in the labor day tourny haha)
Mike - You did the right thing by apologizing! We all make mistakes! Owning up to them and taking responsibility is something not many people do. Very cool! It's all about personal growth! Nice job!
