The Yankees and Thunder were able to get this played on Sunday afternoon, thanks to the efforts of Kevin Jackson,Don Wixon and John Reel. On saturday, the field was being worked on for hours, clearing weeds in the infield and manicuring the playing surface. Then, Sunday morning, Kevin worked on the field even more, due to rain on Saturday evening. Mud was present on the infield right up till late morning, then the sun popped out and had a few hours to dry a number of wet spots on the infield. Kevin decided to give it a go, and by 2:30 gametime, the field was playalbe. The Yanks and Thunder played a tight defensive game on both ends. Jerry Solomon and Rich Garbarino hooked up in a pitching duel. Yanks scored 1 in the third and added 3 more in the 4-5th innings. Jerry Solomon yielded 5 hits, SO 6 and went the distance for the win. On the offenisve side, Mike Eplite doubled twice and singled knocking in 2 runs, and Todd Baldwin also doubled twice pacing the Yankees offense. Pete Geanelis chipped in with 2 singles for the Thunder. Next up for the Yankees, winner of the play in game between the Dodgers and Marlins. Game 1 will begin Sunday @ 4pm (New Scotland) in the semi's.
