As a member of the newly elected board of directors, I wanted to second John Reel's plea to support Quentin's heartfelt endeavor.
Certainly there are many, many worthwhile causes out there, but none that would showcase the compassion of the great league we play in more than this challenge, at this time. Remember, 100% of any contribution, regardless how big or small, will directly benefit these young children. I thank you for your help.
As I mentioned before, I am now a part of the CDMSBL board. 2009 will be my 10th year competing in this league, and I wanted to try and perhaps give something back to this great league, with all the great friendships I've made competing with and against you men. Although the league is strong, I felt there are things than can be tweaked to help improve it.
I feel communication between board members/officers or any decision makers, and the "rank and file" can be improved. To that point, the 2009 board consists of:
Mario Arduini, Jim Bonaparte,Don Dunham, Bob Hamilton, Kevin Jackson, Jim Konstantakis, Quentin Jensen, Carlos Llera,Jon Martin, and John Reel. Hopefully, within this list, there will be somebody that any of our membership should feel comfortable to approach with ideas, concerns, etc. My email is jomartin1@verizon.net
Our first order of business was to elect officers. Kevin Jackson - President Quentin Jenson- Vice President John Reel - Secretary We expect to confrm a Treasurer at our next meeting in January.
John Reel is heading up the committee that is organizing our 2nd annual awards banquet, to be held in March. Many more details will follow.
I can assure you we WILL be bringing our website into the 21st century this time around.
We WILL work with Commisioners to assure scheduled games will be played, make-ups rescheduled promptly, and playoffs scheduled properly. We will also be looking to identify "problem" teams, ie teams that have difficulty fielding a team game to game, to see if contraction is an option. Hopefully, these and other endeavors will help to continue the success of this league as a venue for all ballplayers, regardless of talent level, to compete in the sport we love.
My best wishes to all of the CDMSBL family for a Happy Holiday Season, and a Healthy 2009.
