I'm looking for a contact # for the guy that sends used equipment to latin america. He was at one of our allstar games a couple years ago and I think he's from oneonta

hi jerry:

the people collecting the equipment are steve and lisa pindar of oneonta. steve's oneonta's former city treasurer.

i got a christmas note from them this year: they're still taking in gloves, bats, etc. through the organization they set up to honor roberto clemente, called "roberto's kids." the last total i heard was that they collected 100,000 pounds of baseball equipment in 2006 for kids in the dominican republic, puerto rico, nicaragua, panama and venezuela.

in the fall of 2006 our league donated equipment - steve estimated about 600 pounds worth, if memory serves - at our all-star game. steve and lisa picked it up and carried it back in their SUV to a warehouse in oneonta. their plan was to send the equipment by container ship.
