many or maybe most of you know this, but for those who don't: tip of the cap to time-warner cable. they must have at least one influential seamhead there.
as of early this morning, i found i could get the mlb tv network - that is, baseball 24/7. it's channel 621. (i believe direcTV has it on 213.) i came home from work at 3 a.m. to see duke snider hitting home runs. not bad. makes getting through the winter a lot easier. (of course, if we watch, we can't couch-potato it; prop that old stationary bike in front of the tv and pedal away or do sit-ups between joe black's pitches.)
i wouldn't be surprised to learn that dick stark - an old brooklyn dodger fan? - had a hand in this. if so, thanks dick.
one more upper: in the past i found that jan. 4th usually marked the midpoint of our baseball winter - that is the time from labor day till the next opening day is usually about 240 days and and jan. 4th is about 120 days out. i didn't do the math this year, but if that's so, then today, jan. 6th, opening day is roughly 118 days away. plus, the days are getting longer. remember that next time the snow hits.
Thanks for the info Mike. Getting on a plane to Caribbean Winter Baseball Champonship five weeks from today. Will hook up as a pool player along with a couple of other Albany guys.
buenas suerte! (good luck!) as they say in the caribbean, tommy. hope you all hit a few homers. while there, or when you get back, write and tell us what it's like.
Jan 6th also commemorates the Feast of the Three Kings who rode three camels bearing three gifts which equal the same amount of Ball players and innings each team must have to have a game...coincidence...hmmmmmmmmm
