Retrosheet is a great, great site and an essential research tool. That first game you ever went to a game when you were in 3rd grade, the one you only vaguely remember? Retrosheet has the box score. I use it frequently. It grew out of a Bill James idea, when he was frustrated with the poor stats for old games, called "Project Scorecard." Done on a volunteer basis, fans were asked to send in their old scorecards, even the ones in boxes in the attic, and a legion of folks have painstaking input the data. A great service.
