when is it acceptable to declare for free agency? do we have to wait for a specific time or is everyone a free agent once the season is over? pete westfall
Pete - This information will be forthcoming in a more official nature via the BOD (board of directors) shortly.
In a nutshell, if a player is not planning on leaving their present team, they need do nothing. They will remain on said teams roster.
If a player wants to leave their current team, that player is now free to do so provided that:
A) They have satisfied any obligations with current team ie, paid team fees, returned team equipment, uniforms etc. if applicable and
B) Notify their current manager and division commisioner before Feb 1st of their desire to leave team. If you do not notify your current manager by Feb 1st of the following season, your manager is no longer obligated to release you. Why Feb 1st? Because we want managers to have ample time to solidify their rosters before deposits are due.
As I said, a more formal explanation will be forthcoming.
Feel free to contact me anytime for more information.
As I understood it, no one can claim their free agncy till the end of the season in your division. No one in the 45 Division can yet become a free agent because the finals are not till this weekend. Once the finals are complete, all players in the 45 Division are free agents. Jimk
the rule in text has been released to mgrs. in the 45's and 55 s. I have asked that Q place the rule on the web site of those divsions so players can learn of it and react in timely manner. I might also email blast all 45 and 55 players. jreel 45 and 55 comm. BOD, and league sect.
