38+ - A's 8 Fordians 1 (6/1/05)

In a game that was much closer than the final score, the A's were able to escape a first inning in which they committed three errors with only one run scored by the Fordians.

The A's came back in the second a hit from Dan Spilman, a double from Rich Romer and a run scoring groundout from Art Gianakos. The A's scored their second run in the third with hits from Ray Demers and Wayne Newcomb, a sacrifice bunt from "I Need A Doctor" Wixon and a sacrifice fly from Ed Class.

The game stayed that way until the sixth inning where the A's broke it open with some patience at the plate, scoring on a few bases loaded walks and a final two out, two run scoring hit from Ray Demers.

Dan Spilman pitched the first two innings for the A's and Art Gianakos finished it up for the win.

For the Fordians , Konstantakis had a double and scored the Fordians run and Dunbar had two hits.

For the A's - Spilman, Newcomb and Demers each had two hits and Romer had a double. Don Wixon gave up his body (what is left of it, anyway) on a bang-bang play on a steal attempt in the 5th. We're still looking for the missing parts. Trying to piece what we have to see if it is worth salvaging.

A's 0 1 1 0 0 6 8 11 3
Fordians 1 0 0 0 0 0 1 7 1
