On June 30th the 28+ Mets took on the Pirates at Albany Academy. The Mets came out on top 9-3 behind the dominant pitching performances of Eric Sparks and Keny Hall. Between them, they wracked up 19 K's (7 looking), including FIVE in ONE INNING (put a glove on that glove, catcher!) because of two passed balls.
The Mets made the most of their 10 hits, scoring 9 times. The Pirates managed two hits of their own, but reached base via five walks and the two aforementioned passed balls.
Curtis Garrity carried the flag for the Blue & Orange with a 3-4 performance, with two doubles, while Eric Sparks helped the cause with a single, double, and stolen base in three plate appearances.
