Pirates 2 Peppers 1 (9 innings)

On a cloudy and rain threatening night at SUNY, the Peppers and Pirates battled through a 9 inning game which saw both starters go the distance with the Pirates coming out on top. Tod Calhoun for the Pirates was dominant with a an overpowering fastball and drop curve striking out 14 Peppers and giving up 2 walks and 4 hits. John Weber for the Peppers scattered 7 hits with 5 K's and 2 BB's. In the end, a dropped fly ball at third base with the bases loaded and 2 outs tilted the win to the Pirates. A classic case of both teams deserving to win. The score was tied at 1-1 from the third inning on and both teams threatended but couldn't score until the bottom of the ninth.
