The Golden Marlins used solid pitching and defense to back a 19-hit attack to upend the Blue Thunder 8-1 on Sunday at New Scotland. Phil Gadomski, Chuck Sohl, and Mike Girard scattered 8 hits, while walking only one, to limit the Thunder to one run in the opener. Ron Lochner led the offense with a 4-4 day (triple/3 singles/ 2 RBI). Ron also flashed some quality leather, while taking away some hits at the hot corner. Mike Girard, and Tom Maney added 3-hit performances; and TJ Scorsone, Mike Patnaude, and Jim McQuade had 2-hit games. It was a great start to a new season! What a great way to spend a Spring Sunday!!!
Well, 45+ pitchers, enjoy yourself this summer facing the Marlins. Talk about a stacked lineup! I'm sure Girard had that little sheepish grin on his face as he recapped the game. JimK
