beautiful night at gruner. not too hot. summer light makes the grass a yellow green. not long after sunset, a full yellow moon appeared right above centerfield.great night for a game - though did notice, in the sixth inning, with the temperatures dropping, dew formed on the outfield grass. hints of a season passing fast.
anyway, the humminbirds were efficient, getting hits when they needed them - with runners on second and third. and while we had bases loaded once and guys on second and third twice, we didn't get the proverbial timely hit. credit jim latorre who got nearly all of his five strikeouts when he had to and clay bouton, who was catching and who showed me the finest arm i've seen in two or three years - absolute lasers to second. both teams had 10 hits, and all 20 were singles. herb carter went 3-for-3 for the peppers and (1st name?) meyers was 2-for-2 for the 'birds.
Just because you get thrown out stealing, doesn't mean the catcher has a laser for an arm. You failed to mention however, the five stolen bases I rang up on him, or am I just that fast?
