Hello John Reel, I picked up your new baseball bats yesterday. They are beautiful! The asking price, however, will need to be negotiated! I'll see you in Albany on Friday evening of Labor Day weekend - the family will be staying at Howard Johnson's. Take care and good luck with the knee. -Lenny Fox
ah Lenny youv'e taken a shine to my RG's have you. I look forward to using them....some day. I 'll see you at the tourny. for those in the dark here, RG Johnson is a Maine bat maker . I found him while playing in t he tourny up there in Portland back a few years. Most of his bats are on the heavy side as he doesn't kiln dry. And he custom makes them to whatever you want. Currently Chuck Sohl has taken up one of my models, the heaviest one i had, a 35 inch 40 ounce plus monster. i had it made for the cages. Skip Treece has used another model that was a 33 inch bat and much lighter, both had the thick handles I like, not only for the grip but to keep them in one piece much longer. the ones Lenny is bringing down are clones of the bat Skip likes, which never broke but had the grain roll up when i left it in the garage over the winter instead of warm inside. the high water content ,I'm told, caused this. Don Dunham another RG affectionado, and umpire, did not like the screws i inserted in this bat so I am having three made just like it. they were cheap by comparison but it sounds like the delivery cost of these models may rise a bit and take the purchase price up above the usual $35 I pay per bat , a custom made bat. thanks again Lenny.
