On an absolutely picture perfect Saturday morning at New Scotland, the Cubs shut out the Shaskys 10-0. Ron Massaroni pitched the first four innings for the Cubs, giving up just 3 singles, while striking out 5 and walking none. Randy Craft pitched a 1-2-3 5th inning, and Phil Gadomski retired the 6 Shaskys batters that he faced in the 6th and 7th innings. The Cubs got the offense going right away as the first four Cubs hitters reached base and scored. The Cubs got at least one hit in every inning as they pounded out 14 hits. Seven different Cubs hitters had at least one RBI. Bryce Cutler, Ron Lochner, Andy Hoyle, and Jon Martin all had two hits. Shaskys' pitcher, Rich Cooney had two of the three hits for his club. After the game, the Cubs hung around and enjoyed a great cooler session while watching a couple of youth (15-16 yr.-olds) teams go at it. Fun was had by all!!! The Cubs passed the hat collected $ 250 for the prostate cancer donation drive. If we get all the teams to do this, we can really light up the board!
