After rainouts and holidays caused an unwanted 5 week break in the schedule, the Vets and Golden Marlins dodged rain drops at the Satelite field in Voorheesvile Sunday afternoon. The Goldens pounded out 13 hits and limited the Vets to just 8 in the 8-3 victory. Phil Gadomski started and got the win for the Fish, throwing four innings and scattering 6 singles and no walks, while striking out two. Mike Girard threw the last three innings, giving up just one earned run on two doubles, while walking one and striking out three. Randy Craft had a triple, single and four RBI's to lead the offense for the Marlins. Mike Girard chipped in with 3 singles and 2RBI's. Tom Maney and John Reel had two singles each. Greg Smith went 3-3 with a double and two singles and 1 RBI for the Vets. John Atwell threw a complete game and had an RBI double in the seventh.
The Fish move to 4-1, with the win, and move into a second place tie with the Vets and Dodgers.
It was great to see Mike Hart back at the field, and we all look forward to the time when Mike can lace up the cleats again and join us out on the field!
