Playoff Math

Could someone please clarify for me how the standings are resolved. How do you figure out that, say, a 10-6 team is ahead of a 9-5-2 team. I'm sure there's a logical way -- I just don't understand it and I'm guessing that others might similarly be in the dark. I remember Dick Stark jotting down the simple formula in a meeting once, but I was trying to sleep at the time.

Thanks.

And seriously: It's good to get this stuff clarified BEFORE we find out our seedings on the 19th.

And seriously: There should be NO confusion. Seedings and playoff format were discussed and voted upon at the 38 manager’s meeting back in February.

I guess the half gallon container of coffee you brought to the meeting wasn’t enough to keep you awake.
