The 1st year Senators finally got to the .500 mark, getting to 7 -7, by sweeping the Yankees in a DH played Sunday in the heat at New Scotland. In Game 1, Rich Wander got the win by going the distance in the 8 -3 win. The Senators offense was led by Steve Lounello, whose contract was bought from the Giants for the day, with 3 hits and McCarthy, Wander and VanWormer adding 2 hits apiece. The Yankees got 1 hit each from Caruso, Dunham and Kalinski, all in the 6th, to break up the no hit bid by Rich Wander. Final score; Senators 8 - Yankees 3 In Game 2, the Senators scored 5 times in the 1st, on 7 hits while batting around. Chuck Handford went the distance for the 12 -5 win. The Senators were led by Joe Burns with 3 hits and 4RBI, with VanWormer,Lounello, Handford, Leahey and Collins adding 2 hits each. For the Yankees, Dunham, Bryant and Rogers had 2 hits each.
