Perhaps you've heard Murray Carr's radio spots lately in support of his campaign to become Albany County's next Surrogate (the judge who handles wills, trusts, and estates). But did you know that until he decided to run for this post, Murray played in our league?
Players in the 55 division will no doubt recall his smiling face and easy-going manner. Murray is a fine man (people who work in his field have told me he's "one of the good guys"). And I can say without qualification that every guy on the team liked and admired him.
Murray was a skilled hitter for us and a crafty pitcher. He played hurt a lot of the time, and he never let it hold him back. He's a true gamer.
And I'm sure Murray will be the same kind of judge. For my money, this is the sort of person we want in this job.
So when you go to the polls, remember Murray Carr's name.
And let's hope that once he's elected he'll come back to play in our league again.
Good luck, Murray!
