Wayne, I appreciate all that you did in organizing the outing. I had a committment I couldn't get out of, as was the case for the Whiz that were initially interested. Great idea. Poorly executed. Next time let's set up a committee to run this kind of event. Yes, I am volunteering to be a member of that committee. The time picked was the worst possible ... Monday mornings are not a good time for anyone to get away from work. You need someone to run a 50-50 raffle and sell tickets for door prizes and mulligans. You also need more time from the time you announce the event to the actual event so more recruiting can be done. If you want to try this again, give me a call, and I will be glad to help.
Mike, it was my idea and my job was to get the course at a good price which I did . Without knowing the number of golfers picking a weekend date on short notice would have put the league at risk if we didn't fill. It would have also cost much more and cut into potential profit. John was up against it with limited time but he took a shot and when he didn't receive any money he asked me to get us out, which I did. The board might think of having it as an annual event starting next year. It is really an easy thing to do and doesn't require a committee, only time to collect money.
