I figured i would start a new post since the old one is now on Page 2 ... here is our "job description" from the woman who works for the Police Athletic League
Thanks to everyone who volunteered ..... with the very limited turnout we have received and general lack of interest in helping this will probably be our only attempt at something like this .... but let's do a good job on this one
Basically if you can help out let Q or me know and be there at 530
I will put you down for the 23rd! I expect that to be a busy day, since it is Santa's last day in the Lake House (big trip to plan, you know!). I can use about 6 people for costumes, and 1 or 2 people to assist with changing, walking them in and out, etc., 1-2 people for raffle, and 2 for Santa's Helpers. I probably could also use 1 experienced person who also doesn't mind being outside to assist with parking in front of the Lake House. I would need everyone to report by 5:30 to the Lake House, and that will be a late night--we close at 9:00 officially, but it may be open a little later if there is still a crowd coming in. We let them go thru the lights, and give them the opportunity to shop, so it could be as late as 10:00 before we are done.
Here is what was sent to all the managers: All the manager's should have forwarded to all their players!
As a League, we volunteered to work the Lights in the Park (Washington Park) for the City of Albany. The day is Thursday, December 23rd from 5 30 pm to 9 pm. Some guys plan to go out for a drink or 2 after we volunteer our time. At this time we have about 10 people who have agreed to help out. We need between 15 and 20 people for the night.
What this does for us as a league................................
-Exposure (more people wanting to join our league in all divisions) -Opportunity to secure fields to play on from the city of Albany -A chance to have divisions mingle.
If you can help me out with this endeavor it will be greatly appreciated.
Please email me if interested.
Thanks Q
P.S. - The more people we have, the better because Mayor Jennings needs to know how big we are so he can consider finding a spot for our league as the city does for the Twilight League. We are 50 teams in 5 divisions with guys knocking on our doors to enter a team. If you can spare a couple of hours, this would be huge as every manager received this email to pass on to his players.
