1) Arguing with umpires - they're not trying to make bad calls - deal with it. Yell and scream - insult the guys' mother - they ain't changing their call(s). Maybe next year, the umpires will be allowed to tell us when we suck "dude - you can't hit, throw, run or catch a fly ball - you flat out suck - give it up!" Lastly, how many of US would tolerate some of the crap that is said to them?
2) Throwing bats, helmets, umpires - grow up - it's a game (if I ever get hit by any of the above mentioned items - it won't be a baseball issue. If you don't have enough self control to NOT throw a baseball bat because YOU grounded out weakly to second base or twisted yourself into a pretzel swinging at a changeup - go play in the CDPC league. They're looking for players. Failure is part of life. If you can't accept your own faliure(s) - well, that just really sucks and is your problem. This is coming from a guy who hit .275 this year.
3) Generally mouthing off - shut up and play the game. We've all played our most important games 10,000 years ago. This is supposed to be a fun thing. I have enough stress at work - I don't need any more. If you have inter-personal issues (anger, low self esteem, your mother beat your father, sports frustration (didn't make the JV baseball team) - those kinds of things - DAMN - stay home!
4) The end of the Orioles/Marlins game - both teams were subject to bad calls. Both pitchers threw very well - lots of missed strikes and balls that should have been called strikes by the umpire. Unfortuntely - part of the game (find a local league where the umpires are any better). I've never seen a guy thrown out of a game in any league for playing the game, encouraging his teammates and having fun.
See what I mean by a class act. Right on the ball , Steve.
These 4 or 5 guys were an embarrassment not only to all baseball players, but to adults, HELL, my son was there and he said that he hasn't seen crap like that in Little League. Geesh, I hope not!
When the game is supposed to mean so much to you. Act like it!!!
Wow!!! I am still pissed that you robbed us of winning this thing the right way!
Those comments come from a man who has played baseball at the professional level. I happen to know that he was respected as a player and team mate in that arena. His comments should be taken seriously, contemplated and implemented.
Thanks Mike(s) - I also used to work for Price Chopper. I just like to play the GAME and have fun. I hesitated for quite a while before hitting the post button on my original message. But then I figured - that's the way I feel - screw it. Maybe, there are other guys who feel the same and probablysome who don't.
Sorry this is so late. I wanted to apologize for throwing my helmet our last game. I've always had a bad temper, mainly I get down on myself for not coming through with a hit every time.
I too, was embarrased to play for the Orioles that last game, and actually most of the season. We had a few guys who complained a bit too much. About anything and everything. Having played with them for the past 5 years, I know that when the game is over and we're all sitting around afterwards, they are all really nice guys, but you are right, several of us took the game WAY to serious.
Basically, I wanted to say sorry that you we're exposed to the worst of us. I really enjoyed playing with you this year. You are one heck of a player. Hope to see you out there next year.
