I would like to thank the many friends i have ( or so it seems) in the CDMSBL family as recently i had a couple of physical challenges and have an impending knee replacement surgery on April 22 out here in California....the amount of well wishers and kind words meant the world to me.... I appreciate it....
One last thing and its just an observation and i know all of you recognize the uniqueness that is CDMSBL. I have been out here in California for those of you who dont know me for over 15 years have played in every conceivable tourney the WS the Fall Classic etc all the in between tourneys Vegas etc and NEVER have i enjoyed baseball more than when i come home for my visits and play with the Cubbies or the Marlins. sometimes i think i just drink beer and watch but i forget:):)
anyway i will thank everyone individually for taking the time to send your well wishes but i thought it was appropiate with a lot of the players undergoing challenges and seeing the league stepping up and offering a hand or support or some humor to lighten up the pressure etc...
Tough getting old..... but the good news is after knee surgery i may be able to keep up with Mash in a foot race at leat until we get to second or maybe even first and need a breather....or if i cant the hell with it i will get the other one done I asked for plutonium instead but Micheal J. Fox has it all
the ironic thing about that is he can pitch 230 straight innings without relief... Hilarious...
If you can outrun Mash after the replacement I want your doc doing mine and maybe I can outrun you both .........or not. anyway good luck with the surgery and keep me posted as I'm pretty much getting ready according to my doc.
ted - it was a real pleasure to have you join the peppers for a september game in cooperstown two years back and i'd like to have you do it again,.
one way to help you do that is to check out, if you haven't already, water jogging. this is great water therapy for anybody who has any kind of ankle/leg/hip/back problems: most Ys have "aquajogger" vests you can use for free. they're like styrofoam with straps. you put them around your center, then head to water that's 5 feet or deeper and run, jog, or walk, or stretch in the water. you'll be vertical. great thing is you can exercise with gentle resistance but with no impact. in fact, the water acts as a massage. if you haven't done it yet, try it before your surgery. it'll build up muscles and help you heal faster afterwards. for the past few years, i've been doing water jogging after games. it's a great way to relax and heal after taking one too many dives into first or wherever. i'm sure aquajogger (the company name) is online; they also have weights you can use in the water (and i presume, they won't pull you down.)
mike thanks for the info ...much appreciated... I am afraid of the rain so i will look online to see how i can use it...My PT is cool sports medecine guy so i have all the confidence i can beat Mash :) but he has the pool so i will ask him about it...thanks again
sorry about that :):) i have been caught up in getting everything ready for the surgery and then i had this car accident one of my greatest accomplishments in life :):) I think i am in the crash HOF :)....In any event i am nervous about it but have no choice... I am investing in precious metals as i will be needing them for the other knee both shoulders a couple of hips and then we will start at the neck and go down. :):)
In any event great to hear from you... I am going to be hardpressed this year for Florida becasue i was handed the 50+ team to run ...Ralph came out it was great in March but that is taxing as you know...I am looking to drag up the money so if i can i will be there....i really want to win a ring in Florida with my friends and fellow ballplayers from New York...
thanks brother i really appreciate the response i really wanted everyone to know how great the league is...I know it has opportunities like every other league but the comraderie and the beer cant be beat....looking forward to seeing everyone possibly in September...take care...
teddy, hope everything is going okay for you. i was away in kansas....yes i did say kansas for 2 weeks and i'm just getting back to work and checking emails, etc and saw your post.
