The Golden Marlins took to the Swift Road Field in New Scotland, on Sunday afternoon, as the defending champs. They left the field with a 12-0 win over the Black Sox in their 2011 opener. The Marlins were unable to defeat the Black Sox in the regular season in 2010, so the performance was very satisfying. Phil Gadomski pitched the first four innings giving up just 3 singles and no walks, while striking out 5. John Latorre pitched the 5th inning, giving up a single, and no walks, while striking out 1; and Mike Girard finished up the last two innings with no hits, two walks, and two strike outs. The pitchers got plenty of offensive support, as the Fish pounded out 18 hits and worked 5 walks in compiling the 12 runs. Randy Craft led the way with 2 singles and a home run. John Latorre added three singles; Ron Lochner added a double and a home run. Mike Girard, Jim McQuade, and Mike Lafave added two hits apiece. Mike Ferraro had a perfect day at the plate as he collected a single and 3 walks. Ralph Caputo, Mike Aiello, Greg Hoin, and Haver had the 4 single for the Sox. It was a great way to start 2011! Good friends, good weather, and good ball!
