The Cubs went from famine to feast on Wednesday night in their game against the Highlanders. The Cubs, who were limited to just 3 hits in a game one shut out by the Pirates, erupted for 14 hits and 8 walks in just 4 innings vs. the Highlanders. In a game shortened to 4-1/2 innings by the 12-run rule, The Cubs beat the Highlanders 17-2 at Dutchman field last night. The Cubs got a solid pitching performance from Phil Gadomski and Steve Lounello. Phil gave up just two unearned runs on four singles and no walks, while striking out 4. Steve pitched a perfect 5th inning while ringing up two Highlanders by way of strike outs. The Cubs were led offensively by Gadomski, who had 3 singles, 3 runs, and two RBI's. Randy Craft had a double, single, walk, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Bryce Cutler and Steve Lounello also had two hits each for the Cubs.
Mark Marshall had a two RBI single for the Highlanders.
That just goes to show you how good of a pitching performance Mike Kane and Marc Hitch**** had on opening day versus this potent Cubs line-up. A big tip of the cap to you guys!
