Helping persons with disabilities

Rehabilitation Initiatives (RI) is currently in a partnership agreement with the Albany, Schenectady, & Rensselaer Counties Employment Offices (One Stop Centers), to help disabled persons receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) return to work. If you know a person who receives SSDI/SSI and who needs help to return to work, or your company is looking to hire capable employees, we can help.

RI has full time Disability Resource Coordinators located at the 3 One Stop Centers serving SSDI/SSI Beneficiaries living in any county in the Capital Region. Services are totally free and include vocational goal planning, resume preparation, interview skills training, job placement and long term job retention assistance. SSA Work Incentives for beneficiaries and Tax Incentives for employers are available. All beneficiaries are evaluated regarding their skills, limitations, and motivation to return to work, in order to ensure their capability to adequately perform the job duties of specific positions for which they want to apply.

This program, " The Disability Employment Initiative", also provides a priority focus to helping Veterans receiving SSDI/SSI Benefits, in their quest to return to productive employment. During this Memorial Day and beyond, please keep those in your thoughts and deeds, who have dedicated themselves to protecting all of us.

Please let neighbors, friends, coworkers, relatives and employers know of this free service. We all know people with disabilities, or others who know persons with disabilities, struggling to return to work in this difficult economic time. Each individual communicating this information to everyone they know, and all of these contacts doing the same, will create a large network of knowledge in the community.

Any interested individual or employer should contact me at the below telephone number or email address. Thank you for helping to spread the word!
