The Reds edged the Giants 3-2 Sunday at Satellite. The Reds opened the scoring in the first off Giants starter Jim Konstantakis. Dave VanWormer Doubled, Ed Class gat HBP and Ron McCarthy plated them both with a long double to right center. That was all the scoring until the Giants finally got to Reds starter Rich Wander in the 5th. Doug Reisenger opened the bottom of the 5th with a triple to center and was knowcked in by a Lebanowski single. In the 6th, Jim Whitford led off with a walk, stole 2nd and was moved to third on a FC by Bill Smith. Bob Bolt knocked Whit in to tie the score at 2 after 6. Chris Leahey led off the 7th for the Reds with an infield single off Mike Kane and moved to second on a PB. Will Ferguson knocked him in with a hard single to right to make it 3-2 going to the bottom of the 7th. After a flyout to left by Lounello, Ron Smaka singled and after a walk to Reisenger put runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out, VanWormer took the ball from a rather unwilling(and pissed) Wander and gave it to Joe Burns who promptly got Scuteri to pop to 3rd and struck Konstantakis out to end the game. (Surprise, Wander is now smiling) A great game was played by both teams, with Wander pitching a gem for 6.1 innings and Burns for the Reds and Konstantakis, Whitford, Bolt and Kane all pitching well for the Giants.
