Saturday, the 18th, saw another fine New Scotland evening with Jerry Solomon and John Atwell starting for the Sox and Vets. The hard hitting Sox went out and got 2 runs in the 1st and 2nd with the Vets then answering with 3 in their 3rd making it 4-3 which held up in the 4th. Both teams plated 2 in the 5th with hits by Booker and Musella for the Sox and a 2 run HR by Atwell for the Vets making it 6-5 Sox going into the 6th. The Sox were unable to plate a run in the top of the 6th, but the Vets went up 7-6 on a 2 run double by Brad Buchan in their half then Atwell closing out the Sox in the 7th.
Hitting for the Sox were Lennox with 2 doubles and a single, Chuck Stanley for 2 singles and the Vets saw Atwell with a HR and Buchan a 2B.
Solomon went 5 for the Sox with Hoin relieving in the 6th and Atwell went the distance for the Vets.
The Vets hung around and given the opportunity in the 6th Brad Buchan came through with a 2 run double. Congrats to all the pitchers. You might say both teams experienced leaky defenses, and if not for that, runs would have been much more at a premium. See you Sunday.
