Cubs 15 Orioles 3

The Cubs would get Ron Massaroni his first win of the 2011 season on Saturday afternoon versus the Orioles. Ron has an ERA well south of 2.00, but has been extremely unlucky, as he has been on the mound every time the Cubs bats did not hold up their share of the bargain.
Well, the Cubs would make up for that on this day. At first, it looked like Ron would need to throw a shutout to win, as heading into the bottom of the third inning this game was just 1-0 Cubs. It was in the third inning that the Cubs would erupt for 8 hits and one walk, while plating 8 runs. Only one Cub would not reach base safely in the inning. The Cubs would add one more in the 4th and another 4 runs in the 5th.
The Orioles would get 3 runs in the 6th, but the Cubs would send everyone to their coolers early with a single run in the bottom of the sixth to make the final score 15-3.
Ron Lochner went 3-4 for the Cubs, and Shawn Maney, Randy Craft, Mike Girard, Steve Lounello, and Jim McQuade all had two hits each. Doug Reisinger led the way for the Orioles with a single and a 2 RBI double.
Ron Massaroni threw 4 shut out innings for the win, giving up just 2 hits and no walks, while striking out 5. Steve Lounello came on and pitched the last two for the Cubs. The Cubs move to 12-5, with the win and are looking forward to two upcoming games against the Nats that should decide seeds 2 through 4. It should be a very interesting last two weeks of the season!
